"Believe, Achieve, Succeed, Drug-Free!” is the theme this year for Region 14.
The following downloads and web sites will help you plan for this week. Remember Red Ribbon Week is a week to showcase drug prevention concepts you do in your schools YEAR ROUND. Red Ribbon Week should NOT be the only drug prevention activities you do.
New! Ideas for the Friend Theme: Healthy Choices Scrapbook- make pictures of healthy choices and life-styles with friends throughout the school.
Book Writing- have older students write short books or pamphlets on why not to uses drugs, alcohol, and tobacco for younger students.
Pledge Cards- have students sign pledge cards on the last day, or have younger kids sign drug-free certificates.
Fun with the Numbers- have kids go to websites and find statistics and other information on the impact of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
Friends in Congress- have students write congress about minors being targeted by alcohol ads in magazines.
Friendship Links- Have students write ideas to help friends stay away from drugs on strips of paper. Glue into a link chain to decorate the school.
Positive Peer Pressure- Have students list ways to help friends make good choices.
Friends: The Anti-Drug- have older students fill in what activities they will do with their friends to stay out of drug situations.
Make A Friend Skits- Older students can teach younger students methods of making new friends through short skits. The can teach easy questions to ask, such as about favorite movies, family, activities, etc.
New Friend Day- Seat students in groups according to birthday month, shirt colors, bracelet number, etc. They can then practice getting to know each other and making new friends.
