Classroom Assets Builders Presentations
Personal Safety (30 minutes)
Grades:K-1st
Subjects include personal space/boundaries, self-respect, and highlights cautionary attitudes towards unfamiliar people, places, and uncomfortable situations. Program may be presented to one or two classrooms at a time. (Maximum 50 students)
HealthyBodies (30 minutes)
Grade:2nd
Heart and lung puppets illustrate the dangers of smoking, alcohol and other drugs. Program may be presented to one or two classrooms at a time. (Maximum 50 students)
Feelings (45 minutes)
Grade:3rd
Designed to be an interactive discussion, students are encouraged to identify and accept their feelings as well as those of others. Preliminary anger management. Students will need pencils.Program may be presented to one or two classrooms at a time. (Maximum 50 students)
GoalSetting (45 minutes)
Grade:4th
Students are involved in a program with specific details on setting & reaching goals. Opportunity is provided for students to set goals of their own, & think about what it will take to reach their goals. Requires a chalkboard. Students will need pencil or pen and a writing surface. Presentation is designed for one or two classrooms at a time. (Maximum 40 students)
RefusalSkills (1 hour)
Grade:5th
Students learn to avoid “trouble” situations. Step-by-step examples of refusal skills with an opportunity to practice these newly learned skills. Requires large chalkboard and overhead projector. Pens or pencils and a writing surface for the students. Presentation is designed for individual classrooms. (Maximum 40 students)
Conflict Resolution (1 hour)
Grade:6th
Conflict resolution is explained through discussion and handouts. Students identify poor methods of conflict resolution and role-play effective methods. Requires an overhead projector and a chalkboard. Pens or pencils and a writing surface for the students. Presentation is designed individual classrooms.(Maximum 40 students)
Cyber Safety (45 minutes)
Grades:4th–12th
Up-dated to include blogs and social networking sites.
Ways to “surf” safely on-line are explored through PowerPoint presentation, discussion, and handout. Requires a screen. Pens or pencils and a writing surface for the students. Presentation is designed for one or two classes at a time.(Maximum 50 students)
College Safety (1 hour 15 min.)
Grade:12th
Students explored 5 major safety issues college students deal with daily. Personal Safety, Internet Safety, Travel Safety, Binge Drinking, & Dating Safety are covered by PowerPoint presentation, discussion, and handout. Requires a screen. Pens or pencils and a writing surface for the students. Presentation is designed for one or two classes at a time or if space allows all the 12th grade class at once.
BrainSmart (1hour 15 min.)
Grades:5th-12th
New brain research is explored. A link between Nutrition and mood, behavior, and academic success is explained and recommendations for peak performance are given. This presentation is explored through PowerPoint presentation and discussion. Requires a screen. Pens or pencils and a writing surface for the students. Presentation is designed for one or two classes at a time. (Maximum 50 students)
Love or Abuse (1hour)
Grades:7th-12th females
Warning signs of an abusive relationship are explored in this presentation. Ways to help or get help are explained and what a positive healthy relationship looks like are reviewed by PowerPoint presentation, handout, and discussion. Requires a screen. Pens or pencils and a writing surface for the students. Presentation is designed for one or two female classes at a time. (Maximum 50 students)
This Is Your Brain On Drugs (45 min.)
Grades: 5th to 12th
We will show the impact of drug use on the brain (showing actual brain scans of drug users). We will also discuss the damage it can do to your body. Finally, we will look at the legal and social costs when you have a drug conviction on your record.
Bully Prevention (45 min.)
Grades: All grades
We will dispel some common myths about bullies.
We will then explore characteristics of bullies, targets, and bystanders and how to work with and help members of each of these groups.
Finally we will cover how to report bullies, help targets, and change the climate of the school so that bully behavior is harder to hide.
