Region 14 offers many different programs to co-op members. These programs attempt to help prevent drug use in students by using surveys, pull-in programs, teacher and staff trainings, student support programs, and other researched and proven effective measures.
In order to meet the need for a safe and drug-free school and community environment, school districts that are not members of the SDFSC Cooperative may purchase the following services:

SAFE AND DRUG-FREE SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES SERVICES
Bully Prevention- on-site presentation (all grades)which deals with characteristics of bullies, targets, and bystanders and what students can do to report bully behavior and help change the school climate.

This Is Your Brain on Drugs- on-site presentation (5th to 12th grade) showing the impact of drug use on the brain, body, and socially.

Cyber Safety- on-site presentation (4th thru 8th grade) by a SDFSC consultant which addresses issues of Internet safety and dos and don’ts of Internet surfing.

Love or Abuse- on-site presentation (7th thru 12th grade females) by a SDFSC consultant, which addresses signs of an abusive relationship, how to help someone else or yourself, and what a healthy relationship looks like.

Safe School Walk Through- Administrator requests a Region 14 employee will conduct an unannounced walk thru of a campus check security, maintenance, safety procedures, and other issues.

Voices Unmasked - on-site performance by McMurry students focusing on current issues including making wise choices and building self-esteem.

Asset Builders Classroom Presentations - on-site presentations delivered to Kindergarten through 6th grade by a SDFSC consultant which address issues relating to drug use prevention and violence prevention.

College Safety – on-site presentation delivered to 11th and/or 12th grade by a SDFSC consultant, which addresses safety and drug issues that students may face after graduating from high school.




Peer Assistance and Leadership (P.A.L.) Training - teaches middle and high school students how to take a leadership role for providing assistance to other students. Training provided for students and sponsors.

Peer Mediation Training - provides student and sponsor training for schools interested in beginning formalized peer mediation program. Includes peaceful conflict resolution and personal responsibility training.

Technical Assistance - access to technical support is offered in the following areas: application preparation, program development and local action planning, program evaluation and documentation, as well as project specific assistance.

S3 (Safe Schools Survey) - an on-line survey that can be accessed through Region 14’s web-site and can be completed by students, parents, teachers, and administrators. This survey can double for a needs assessment and an outcome measure for SDFSC programming.

Curriculum - SDFSC cooperative works with school districts to provide curriculum related to the prevention of tobacco, alcohol and drug use, including “DAVE”, the Texas Prevention Curriculum Guide.

Support Media - a library of audio-visual material related to the prevention of drug use has been established for use by Region 14 schools.

Staff Development - workshops are scheduled utilizing a wide range of consultants to address relevant topics as determined by needs assessments, program and service evaluations, and district requests.
