Region 14 Education Service Center Receives ISO 9001:2000 Certification
Region 14 Education Service Center, Abilene, Texas
In May 2007, Region 14 Education Service Center received ISO 9001:2000 Certification after successful completion of the certification audit conducted by ABS-Quality Evaluations, Inc. ISO is an internationally recognized reference for quality management requirements. All twenty education service centers in Texas are involved in meeting these certification requirements.
Building upon management and operational practices in place, Region 14 ESC implemented an effective Quality Management System that consistently provides services that meets customer (school districts) requirements and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., Texas Education Agency, No Child Left Behind).
The key to the success of Region 14 is the dedicated personnel who perform their job each day to support the educational community. Region 14 ESC’s staff is committed to improving the performance of the educational community that ensures excellence, equity and efficiency in meeting customer requirements.
The following components are included in the ISO 9001:2000 Certification:
• General Administration
• Business Services
• Center for Curriculum Integration and Support
• Center for School Operations
• Center for Teaching and Learning
• Center for Technology Services
As a part of meeting the ISO Standards, critical center-wide and component processes are now documented in procedures, forms, program portfolios, plans, and other documents to ensure consistency.
Internal audits conducted by Region 14 personnel help identify any gaps in meeting the ISO Standards. A pre-certification audit conducted by Performance Results International, L.L.C. served as a final tune-up before the actual certification audit. Annual surveillance audits will be conducted to verify that the approved quality management system continues to be implemented and to confirm continued conformity with certification requirements. Re-certification audits will be conducted every three years.
The Quality Management System Administrative Team meets as needed to review documents such as the Quality Manual, Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, audit results, corrective action, preventive action, procedures, forms, and plans. Preventive Action or Corrective Action is taken as appropriate to ensure processes are meeting customers’ needs. The Quality Management System Team continually evaluates Region 14’s QMS compliance with the ISO Standards and its own Quality Management System requirements.
