ACCESS NEWSLETTER

This newsletter will be available three times a year with information pertinent to the needs of educators envolved in enabling students to access the general curriculum.

The "FOCUS" segment will be an opportunity to touch base with teachers and administrators with encouraging comments. This segment will explore areas that Region 14 school may need to "Focus" on for successful implementation of inclusion. Events and updates on legislation will be included in the "Upcoming Events" section. There will be four other segments in the newsletter related to topics that have been identified as critical to the inclusion process.

The first segment is Differentiation Fascination; this segment will feature specific article excerpts on differentiation and or differentiation strategies. This segment will explore areas specific to differentiation such as academic content, student choice, preassessment, cooperative learning, and student products.

The second segment is Circling the Universe for Universal Design. This will be a segment that addresses:

*Multiple means of representation, to give learners various ways of acquiring information and knowledge.

*Multiple means of expression, to provide learners alternatives for demonstrating what they know.

*Multiple means of engagement, ways to tap into learners' interests, offer appropriate challenges, and increase motivation.

The third segment will share information pertaining to Collaboration/Co-teaching. Like all of the other segments, this segment will provide strategies, articles, websites and resources to support collaboration

The Strategy corner will highlight a specific instructional strategy.

Finally, the “Lighter Side” is provided so that we can share a laugh and smile.
