Special Education
Transition

The transition of students from school to adulthood roles has emerged as one of the most important topics in the field of special education and rehabilitation. The critical nature of planning for the transition needs of students has also been recognized in the school-to-work, often referred to as school-to-careers, initiative. Transition planning should be creative and respectful of students and their families and use all recourses as fully as possible. As professionals and families look toward the future, we need to ask what needs to be in place to benefit all young adults with disabilities.
