 The Region XIV Special Education Component is committed to the support of teachers and students involved in the Statewide Assessment System (TAKS) which includes and the new Alternative Statewide Assessment for those students not currently working on grade level TEKS. There is a greater emphasis at the Federal and State level for all students to participate in the general curriculum and in the statewide assessments. This provides many challenges for all who work with children with disabilities. Region XIV ESC consultants provide staff development and on-site technical assistance to teachers concerning TEKS, TAKS, and instructional practice. |
