Hello, I'm Chris Faehnle, the Reading Consultant at Region 14 Education Service Center. There are many reading services available through Region 14. We provide information in research-based reading instruction to help every child read on grade level by the end of third grade and to remain on grade level for the remainder of their school years. Professional development is available for teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators. Some specific areas of professional development include: researach-based instruction for classroom use; Texas Reading Initiative; reading assessment; insturctional strategies and techniques; remediation strategies, Texas dyslexia guidelines and workshops; TEKS/TAKS integration; Teacher Reading Academies for grades K-4; Dyslexia Teacher Academies. Region 14 Reading Consultants are here to assist in all areas of English/Language Arts and strive to provide our region with the latest and greatest information enabling districts to create a strong educational curriculum and attain the goal of highly successful students.
