I'm Donna Scherr, the Reading and Dyslexia Consultant at Region 14 Education Service Center.
There are many reading services available through Region 14. We provide information in research-based reading instruction to help every child read on grade level by the end of third grade and to remain on grade level for the remainder of their school years. Professional development is available for teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators.
Some specific areas of professional development include: research-based instruction for classroom use; the Texas Reading Initiative; reading assessments; instructional strategies and techniques for RTI; remediation strategies; Texas dyslexia guidelines and workshops; TEKS/TAKS integration; Teacher Reading Academies for grades K-4; and TALA for 6-8.
Region Service Center Reading Consultants provide assistance in all areas of English/Language Arts and strive to provide our specific region with the latest and greatest information enabling districts to create a strong educational curriculum and attain the goal of highly successful students.
