Level 1 TELPAS training is for newly identified 2-12 raters and any trained previously but NOT yet qualified. A state-authorized TELPAS trainer will build a foundational understanding of the TELPAS assessment system, and answer questions about rating practice activities and the rating process... necessary to complete the qualification portion of their training and serve as raters in the spring.

The purpose of this e-mail is to provide clarifications to information contained on page 3 of the September 19, 2008 letter on Student Assessment Online Testing and Training for the 2008-2009 School Year. In the Spring TELPAS Holistic Rating Training section, two dates for the opening of training windows were given. Text has been added for each to clarify who should be participating in each of the training opportunities. Inserted text is shown in bold font below.

January 12, 2009 Level 1 online training window opens for new 2-12 raters and individuals trained previously but not yet qualified.

February 2, 2009 Spring online qualification window opens; Level 1 online training window opens for new K-1 raters, Level 2 online refresher training window opens for previously trained K-1 raters and previously qualified 2-12 raters.
